Dr. Dianne McNeill is a board-certified pediatrician with additional training in Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine, combining clinical expertise with a holistic view of health. She is triple board certified Pediatrics, Integrative Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Originally from Western Pennsylvania, she earned her undergraduate degree Summa Cum Laude from Penn State and her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, selected by the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship.
She completed her Pediatrics residency through a joint military program in San Antonio, Texas, and went on to serve as a staff pediatrician and Exceptional Family Member Program Manager at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC.
Dr. McNeill moved to the Chesapeake VA area in 2004 working in different pediatric groups ranging from a private practice in VAB, to multispeciatlty practice in Suffolk, to large pediatric group in Suffolk (they were all further away from Chesapeake, and this did not allow her to be close to home, her children, and community.) In 2012, Dr. McNeill decided it was time to open Cornerstone Pediatrics in Chesapeake, Virginia, to create a more personal, community-rooted practice close to her home, children, and build a better private pediatric practice that focused on each child and family with the care that she could provid in our community.
She is passionate about building strong relationships with families and caring for patients from birth through young adulthood. She takes pride in providing continuity of care as children grow.
Dr. McNeill’s own children—Alex and Sophia—have grown up in the Chesapeake, and Sophia now works alongside her as a medical receptionist. Even the family dogs occasionally lend a paw at the office to help put young patients at ease.
Dr. McNeill is a graduate of the Reach PPP Mini Mental Health program via Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP) to help identifiy, manage and treat pediatric mental health conditions.
She has experience with helping our challenged children with delays, ADHD, and autism from her time working in the military at Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, NC and her own personal experiences with her family. She also obtained additional training for autism diagnosis and testing, including the MD-Stat Autism, demonstrating her commitment to pediatric mental health. And is pursuing additional autism evalulation/testing requirements to help families get access to diagnostic care and guideance considering the local wait time for testing is over 1 year.
Beyond medicine, Dr. McNeill is a third-degree, level 3 black belt in Taekwondo and certified 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training/YTT. She has additional training in breathwork, relaxation, and grounding as well.
Dr. McNeill named her practice Cornerstone Pediatrics to reflect her mission: to help children build a solid foundation for a lifetime of health and happiness. “I treat my patients like family,” she says. “Watching them grow into confident, healthy young adults is the greatest reward.”
One of her favorite quotes, from Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss, captures her approach to life and medicine:
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”
